Welcome to the 2008 5k Run for Doctors Without Borders!

We have finished processing results and counted up entry fees and we were able to raise about $3,150 from entry fees alone in 2008!  236 people participated on Saturday, March 29, and 271 registered for the race altogether.  All of this money is being sent to Doctors Without Borders!  Thanks so much for your participation in 2008, and we hope to see you back in 2009.

Thanks for visiting the website of the 2008 AMSA 5k Run for Doctors Without Borders.  This event, held on March 29, 2008, in Starkville, Mississippi is a fundraiser for the international non-profit Doctors Without Borders.  Doctors Without Borders is an organization dedicated to sending medical supplies and personnel to countries that have suffered as a result of war, famine, natural or economic disaster, or epidemic outbreak.  In 1999, Doctors Without Borders won the Nobel Peace Prize for their work around the world.  AMSA, or the American Medical Students Association, is a group of MSU pre-medical students who are interested in this cause because they share with Doctors Without Borders the vision of providing medical care to those who need it most.  All participants' entry fees will be sent directly to Doctors Without Borders, and therefore, your participation is key in making this a successful benefit!

The 5k run / walk is a 3.1 mile course which loops around the beautiful MSU campus, past many notable athletic complexes on campus--including Davis Wade Stadium and Dudy Noble Field.  March 29, 2008 is also Super Bulldog Days Saturday, and there are many sporting events on campus during the afternoon.  AMSA would like to extend an invitation to all Bulldog fans and alumni to begin their MSU weekend with a running tour of campus.  There is a starting line map, course description, and downloadable .pdf map of the course located in Run Information.

Thanks to all who have registered online and remember that registration will also be available in the Sanderson Center on Friday, March 28, from 6-7 p.m. and on the morning of the race.  Cost of registration is now $15, which will be donated directly to Doctors Without Borders.

Due to incredible number of runners and walkers that have signed up to participate, t-shirts will be given to the first 145 people who pickup their shirts and race packets.  If you have ordered a t-shirt and do not receive one, we will take your name and you will receive your shirt in a few weeks.  We're very sorry!
